Some details of Victoria

Nothing very interesting happens today. Instead of talking of my day, I will explain some particular things I observe here.

First thing is that the bike doesn't appear to be a toy. Many cycling paths are all around the city. Every single bus of the public transportation have a rack where we can put our bike when we want to take a ride. The campus of UVic offer plenty of parking of bicycle. Most of them possess a ingenious Plexiglas roof.

The campus is also all accessible for people with handicap. On each door, a Braille sticker tells the name of the building. So blind people can know if it's the right building. Each building provide ramps, washroom and automatic doors for people using wheelchair.

Many newspapers are distributed freely in the city. Some are general, but most have specialized topics : travel, food, vegetarian and organic way of life, etc. It even exist a free Japanese newspaper. But I'm not able to read it :-(.
